Bookmaker Office, Types of Sports Bets
Choosing the type of bets in a bookmaker's office is an important step that determines your chances of successful wagers in sports. The bookmaker offers a very wide range of sports betting options, with some bookmakers offering more than two hundred bets on specific sporting events. Let’s take a look at the most popular types of sports bets in a bookmaker's office.
Outcome (1X2). A bet on the outcome of a sports match is the most popular and widespread type of bet in a bookmaker's office; it is simple and straightforward - 1 X 2. The event will end with a victory for one of the teams (1 or 2) or a draw (X). However, there are sports where a draw is not possible, such as tennis. In this case, the bookmaker will offer to place a bet on the victory of one of the players. A similar situation applies to certain tournaments in other sports, where a winner must be determined.
Double Outcome - a type of sports bet in which the player is offered to choose a bet with a small insurance on the final outcome of the match. 1X – victory or draw for the first team, meaning the first team will not lose. 12 – the match will end without a draw, meaning one team will definitely win, there will be no draw. 2X – victory or draw for the second team in the match, meaning the second team will not lose.
Half-Match. This type of sports bet allows you to bet on whether there will be goals scored by a certain team in the first or second half. In events with a clear favorite, this is a very useful type of bet, with a higher coefficient compared to the chances of correctly predicting a win or draw.
Total in Sports Betting. The bookmaker offers the player to bet on the number of specific events during the match. Most often, this is a bet on the number of goals, red cards, yellow cards, corner kicks, or free kicks for a certain period of the game. For example, if the score in the game is 2-1, then the bet “Total over 2.5” has won, meaning more than 2.5 goals were scored; in this case, there were 3. The same principle applies to counting other events in the game.
Bet on the Exact Score in the Bookmaker's Office. A bet on the exact score allows for higher earnings - bookmakers offer very high odds on the exact score in a match. In the bookmaker's line, the odds on the exact score in the match start from 4.0 – 5.0.
Handicap in Sports Betting. In this type of bet, the bookmaker alters the final score using the handicap value. Even if your team lost, depending on the value of the handicap you chose, you can still earn.
The handicap in bets can be positive or negative. Each of them can, in turn, be fractional or whole.
With a positive handicap, the player adds the value to the final number of goals or points. Suppose, the player in the bookmaker placed a bet on Chelsea to win with a +1 handicap. The game ended in a draw 1:1. By adding a +1 handicap to the number of goals scored by Chelsea, we get '2'. This means that with the handicap value, the bet has won.
With a negative handicap, the player subtracts the value from the total number of goals or points. Let's consider an example: You placed a bet on Manchester United to win with a handicap of (-1.5). In this match, Manchester United won 3:1. We subtract the handicap value from Manchester United's goals: 3 - 1.5 = 1.5, so the final score considering the handicap is 1.5:1; accordingly, your bet has won, and you made a profit.
With a fractional handicap, the player also adds or subtracts the value from the total number of goals or points. The outcomes of the bet can only be two: a loss or a win. In contrast, with an integer handicap, there can be three outcomes: a win, a loss, and a bet return.
A bet option with a zero handicap. In this bet, the player protects themselves against a draw. A win for your team means the bet wins, a draw means a return, and a loss for the team means the bet has lost.
